Silica

What Is Silica?

Silica is one of the most commonly found substances on earth. Silica is essentially quartz, and is a main component of materials such as sand and concrete. Unlike other hazardous materials such as asbestos, lead and mould, silica is generally not a threat to you as a homeowner.

When Is Silica Dangerous?

The dangers of silica in a residential or commercial setting come into play when materials such as concrete are drilled through, ground, or cut, creating small dust particles containing silica that can be easily inhaled if the worker is not protected.
